This is your invitation to apply for a very special experience. As a Sister City delegate, you will visit Tokyo and Misawa, and have the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, be a part of the Misawa City parade and celebrations, visit with a host family, and represent the Wenatchee Valley during Misawa’s summer festival. If we cannot go during the summer festival time, we will participate in other events, festivals, cultural activities as permitted during that time.

As a Sister City delegate, you will visit Tokyo and Misawa, and have the opportunity to learn about Japanese culture, be a part of the Misawa City parade and celebrations, visit with a host family, and represent the Wenatchee Valley during Misawa’s summer festival.

Each delegation is comprised of local dignitaries, Apple Blossom Festival Royalty, local business leaders, teachers, and student ambassadors. The delegation has traditionally spent 1-2 days touring Tokyo, and 5-6 days staying in Misawa with host families, attending the Misawa festival, and participating in numerous Misawa City functions.

The approximate cost is $2,500 per delegate. The cost is subject to change every year and this cost reflects the 2024 year. Applications are available on this page (see above) or by contacting LaVerne Bergstrom at (509) 669-2545.

Applications for student ambassadors are available to current 7th through 12th grade students from Wenatchee and East Wenatchee schools.

Applications for the 2025 will open November 1st, 2024.
