Apply to be a delegate:
This is your invitation to apply for a very special experience. As a Sister City delegate, you will visit Tokyo and Misawa, and have the opportunity to learn about the Japanese culture, be a part of the parade and celebrations there, visit with a host family, and represent the Wenatchee Valley during their summer festival.
The association will begin accepting new ambassador candidates at this time.
The delegation is comprised of local dignitaries, Apple Blossom Festival Royalty, local businessman, teachers and student ambassadors. The delegation has traditionally spent 1-2 days touring Tokyo, 5-6 days staying in Misawa with a family, attending the Misawa festival and attending numerous Misawa City functions. With the Japanese Press constantly following the delegation everywhere, one rule is a must: modest dresses or Khaki pants and button down shirt are required. You must leave your jeans at home!
The approximate cost is $2500 per person. Applications are available above or by contacting Bob Smet at 682-6645 or Teresa Allen at 886-6102.
The students are required to fill out an application, get two letters of recommendation and complete an extensive application form with a parental consent. Students are selected based on teacher recommendations, community and school involvement, academic record and a short essay. Applications are available to current 8th, 9th or 10th grade students from Eastmont and Wenatchee schools.
